Pre-Prep Club Leader Audrey Baxter has been chosen out of thousands to perform at the Opening Ceremony for the 2012 Olympics.
Madame Baxter has been at Colfe’s for ten years and teaches the popular French Club after school.
She had to go through two gruelling auditions before she was one of the lucky ones to be chosen. She said “The Auditions took place in the East End at the 3 Mills Film Studios. I had to learn two dance routines from the professionals who were there and there was lots of physical movement. They were really testing your memory and how you worked in a team. I got through that but then I had a second three hour audition which was very demanding. I was surprised and absolutely delighted to get through.
“Now we have just twenty five rehearsals to perfect our routines – although at this stage I don’t know exactly what we will be doing.”
Audrey who is a keen Amateur Dramatist (she plays for the Ravensbourne Light Operatic Society in Bromley) in her spare time, will be one of the dance team for the ceremony which is due to take place on 27 July. The Ceremony is being created by the director Danny Boyle and will be titled “Isles of Wonder”
Madame Baxter said “I’m really excited to be part of it, particularly as this will never happen in my lifetime again, so I’m really looking forward to being able to say I was there.”
