
Lynx have won a close and hard fought Prep School House Swimming Gala.The morning saw Years 5 and 6 Houses compete against each other with deafening screams of encouragement from students, teachers and parents. Everyone swam very well and at the half-way point Orion was in the lead closely followed by Lynx and Aquila and finally Pegasus. The children stayed focused and swam hard. By the end of the morning’s efforts though, Lynx had edged into the lead. With only 77 points in it, the final results for the older children were: Lynx, 1st with 295 points. Orion, 2nd with 284 points, Aquila, 3rd on 264 and Pegasus 4th on 218.
Arthur from Year 5 who swam for Lynx in the 25m Freestyle and in the relay said “It was very close and it was lucky for us to get 11 points ahead of Orion but we all did our best”
Then it was the turn of Years 3 and 4. The excitement continued and again the students enthusiastically encouraged each other. The younger students showed no sign of nerves and it was another close finish. The final scores were Aquila 4th on 197, Orion 3rd on 231, Pegasus in 2nd on 241 but the winners of the Year 3 and 4 Gala, were Lynx on 257.
Katie in Year 3 who is in Orion said “I found the gala quite hard and, although it was really close, I won my Butterfly race. I also swam in Freestyle and Breastroke and I was a little bit tired. But it was good fun”

It meant that Lynx are the overall winners of the 2012 House Prep School Swimming Gala.
Final scores were: 1st Lynx 552, 2nd Orion 515,3rd Aquila 461, 4th Pegasus 459
Head of the Prep School Mr Gallagher said “This was another tremendous Gala and all the children swam very well. Thank you to all the staff for their support, but I must especially thank Mr Brooker and Ms Holder. It was a great effort from everyone and well done to Lynx who are the Swimming Gala Champions for 2012”
