It is expected that all students currently at Colfe's will attend the Sixth Form Open Evening with their parents. This evening will consist of a timetabled set of 'taster sessions', which are brief 15 minute introductions to the A level subjects that each student might wish to study when they choose their A levels. We would like parents or guardians to accompany students on the evening. Students will be expected to wear school uniform.

Following the Open Evening, students are encouraged to speak to Heads of Department about the suitable subjects for them. In addition, Heads of Departments of subjects offered at A level but not to younger year groups (new subjects) will speak to Year 11 during their assemblies to ensure that even those who have not been to a particular session do receive a briefing about its content.

The initial choice of subjects at A level takes place after the mock examinations in January. At this stage, each student will be interviewed by a member of staff to ensure that their subject choices are logical and that they are likely to meet the minimum entry requirement of a B grade in all subjets, except Maths where all students require an A grade at GCSE. The choice of subjects at Colfe's is not constrained as we build the timetable around this initial selection by students.

The entry criteria for the Sixth Form for internal students are: 14 points at GCSE, with 3 points awarded for an A or A*, 2 for a B and 1 for a C grade.
